General
Just like all other products of our TLO (TheLightestOne) range, the 1K carbon seatpost is manufactured to suit your personal weight and riding style using the best prepregs available in the market. Compared to standard carbon seatposts these seatposts are more vertically compliant with no loss of lateral or torsional stiffness, resulting in a more comfortable riding experience but no loss of energy. Its head clamps the saddle’s rails on eight points. The alloy parts have chamfered edges, which, together with the large supporting carbon fibre surface, ensures that even fragile carbon rails are not unduly stressed. The 5 mm Ti6Al4V titanium screws are waisted extension bolts are strong enough to even withstand rough terrain mountain bike use. The clamping works with all standard round and oval saddle rail designs.
The actual tube’s highest stressed sections consists of up to 17 layers of extremely thin carbon fibre prepreg, while its less stressed sections are sufficiently strong with as little as 9 layers. Unfortunately this is a complicated design, too complicated for cheap Asian production. Seatpost built to a price in China as a rule come with constant wall-thickness. This makes production easy, it also makes the resulting seatpost heavier than necessary. Seatposts in particular require hundreds and hundreds of destruction tests to arrive at the lightest possible solution for every length and diameter without sacrificing the final products strength. We do of course also include rider’s weight into our design equations; light riders don’t need to carry the extra weight of a standard seatpost designed for a user much heavier than they are.

Ordering
Our seatposts are reinforced where they are stressed by the seat clamp, hence their range of adjustment is limited. Please do not buy a long seatpost to cut it to size. We want to adjust strength and length of your seatpost to your requirements as good as possible; to determine the total required length of the seatpost please measure the length of your current exposed seatpost tube measured from where the seatpost tube exits the frame to the middle of the saddle’s rails. With this measurement you can then determine the total required seatpost length using the table above. For example if your exposed seatpost length is 160 mm the 280 mm seatpost will be the right seatpost for you (Length outside the frame in mm 150 – 200).
Weave options
TLO seatpostes can be ordered in 1k or UD weave. 1k is the classic carbon look with biaxially woven fibres. UD (unidirectional) describes a more subtle all-black “non-woven” carbon look where all fibres run in one direction. In general UD carbon parts will be a few grams heavier compared to their 1k counterparts. Click here to see the 1k version of our TLO seatpost
Color options
To allow the perfect match for your bike, all TLO seatposts are available in 2 different logo color options: black edition and standard red/white team edition
Please note: Longer seatposts require more raw material, therefore we have to charge more for the posts longer than 300 mm.
TLO seatpost inner diameter fits Di2 batteries.
