In collaboration with PI ROPE, we present the first gravel wheelset with textile spokes.

Textile Spokes from PI ROPE

SCHMOLKE Carbon Gravel Wheelset with textile spokes: Light, stable, unique! Unlike our traditional wheelsets, we use high-strength polyester from PI ROPE – spun from liquid crystal polymers – for the spokes. Each PI ROPE spoke weighs only 2.2g. Optimized U-Shape

Optimum force transmission from the spokes via the nipples into the rim. Less material is needed to stabilize the flanks – the shape’s design for force flow allows for optimized fiber placement and high stability with low weight. The specially optimized shape gives the tire the optimal fit and thus promotes grip on gravel paths. With the TLO Gravel rim you will never lose your grip. The special shape makes it possible for the rim to function completely without a hook.

Internal width

25 mm – optimal internal width for mounting the usual 40 to 45 mm wide gravel tires. It is essential to ensure that you install a tubeless-capable tire!

Intend use

Gravel and road – the TLO Gravel rim feels at home on any terrain, whether on gravel, on a bikepacking trip or off-road. Extensive tests have confirmed this.

Lightweight Hubs

The ultra-light pair of Non+ hubs with center lock brake disc mount for gravel use. With their slim hub bodies for straightpull spokes, the NON+ hubs fit perfectly into your gravel bike. Their matt black anodized finish not only looks great, it also protects the hub bodies from corrosion. In the end, the whole thing revolves around two high-quality and smooth-running 6803 RS deep groove ball bearings. The end caps are the Microspalt end caps, which also form a seal against water, dirt and dust. The Non+ hubs only weigh approx. 220 grams, putting them on par with the lightest hubs on the market. Despite their extremely low weight, the hubs are approved for a system weight of up to 110 kg.

Which freewheel system do I need?

Before you make the purchase, you should be clear about which group set you have installed on your bike. This determines which freehub body you should order.

Shimano – if you have installed a Shimano group set, please select Shimano (12-speed) as the freehub body. Even with the 12-speed group, the cassette can still be installed on the conventional HG-11 freehub body without any problems.

SRAM – The newer 12-speed AXS group from SRAM require the XDR freehub body for assembly, in which the cassette is screwed onto the body in one piece.

Wheel building

The TLO Gravel wheels are painstakingly laced and centered by our wheel builder. This is done in our workshop in Konstanz on beautiful Lake Constance. Great care is taken to ensure that each wheel is finished with optimal concentricity and the correct spoke tension. In order to optimize the fit of the spokes, our TLO Gravel wheels are machine pressed several times with a precisely defined force. This means that you as a customer do not have to have the wheels re-centered after a short time, but can enjoy the full driving pleasure of the wheels straight away and without any restrictions.
