Ergonomics

The 6° backsweep of the grip ends is currently considered the optimal angle for comfort in cross-country. The 15 mm upsweep means you can always turn the handlebars into the ergonomically best position. The width of up to 800 mm enables constant control and smooth steering even in particularly technically demanding areas. In order to achieve the superior rigidity of the lightweight carbon handlebar, we let the ø 31.8 mm thick clamping area extend as long as possible over 280 mm to the usual 22.2 mm grip ends, which is particularly perfect for wide handlebars. These lightweight carbon rizers have proven themselves in mountain bike races all over the world.

Construction

Like all of our TLO series products, our lightweight full carbon MTB risers are hand-wound (about carbon) from the best prepregs available on the market to suit your weight and riding style. The layer structure, further refined over 30 years of production experience, with up to 20 layers in the heavily stressed middle section and only 4 layers in the lightly stressed grip area, enables the incredible weights despite the high rigidity and indestructibility required in cross-country.

Ordering information

Our lightweight carbon lowrisers can only be shortened up to 10 mm on each side. So make sure you order the right width for your needs! Handlebar ends cannot be used on this lightweight carbon handlebar! If you’re not sure about using bar ends, the SL Lowriser, which is 15g heavier and has thicker bar ends, may be a better choice. Since the TLO handlebars do not have the option to mount horns, they are not subjected to as much stress as the SL handlebars. This is particularly true in the event of an accident. Therefore the lighter TLO handlebar is even stronger than the SL handlebar! These thin-walled carbon handlebars can be complemented with our custom carbon handlebar plugs.

ICR ready

The lightweight low risers are also available with optional holes for internal cable routing (ICR). This option has 3 holes: one at the bottom between the stem and brake handles on the left and right sides, and a third hole at the back in the middle of the MTB handlebar. If you are planning internal cable routing for your setup, please remember to select the “ICR ready” option when ordering. The necessary reinforcement increases the overall weight of the carbon handlebar by approximately 4g.

Surface options

All of our lightweight carbon MTB Lowrisers are not painted to avoid adding unnecessary weight and because the epoxy surface is much more durable than any paint. So it won’t get scratched so quickly. All of our lightweight carbon MTB-risers come in the current matt look. TLO risers can be ordered in 1k fabric or UD. 1k is the classic carbon look with biaxially woven fibers. With UD (unidirectional) all carbon fibers run in one direction. The surface therefore looks uniformly black, almost painted. Generally, UD carbon parts are a few grams heavier than the 1K carbon parts. Learn more about UD and 1k here

Colour options

To create the perfect look on your bike, all TLO carbon riser are available in 3 different logo colours: Schmolke Edition (red / white), Black Edition and White Edition.
